The future is looking bright for a young Manx music producer after he had his debut single picked up by a UK music label.

Alex Yardley, 17, from Ramsey, is set to release his first single, entitled ’Never Let Go’ tomorrow (Friday).

Specialising in creating dance and electro-pop in his own home studio, Alex has teamed up with a UK-based song-writer, Izzy Julier, to write and produce the track, which has been released through the music label Bass Rebels.

After spending the past couple of years learning how to create music digitally, Alex said that he decided to concentrate fully on creating music a year ago, and is happy that he is starting to see his hard work and determination pay off.

’I’ve been making my own music since I was 13 years old,’ said Alex.

’I’ve been producing for four years now and it’s my absolute favourite thing to do.

’At first I was just messing around, creating a few sounds and tracks that I never released, but over the past year I’ve really been working hard to perfect my craft so that I can share what I do with as many people as possible.’

Alex, who is a self-taught piano player and drummer, creates most of his own sounds through his phone and computer.

’When it comes to production, I never let myself have any boundaries.

’I just sit down at my computer and express how I feel through music.

’I always try to experiment with different sounds and ideas, instead of just sticking with one genre.

’With "Never Let Go", I combined both dance and pop music into a heartwarming song about desire and cherishing the many wonders of being with someone forever; you never want to let go of a single moment with the people you love.’

Deciding he wanted to find someone to help work on the song, he met Izzy Julier online, who provided the lyrics and vocals.

After taking the next step in looking for a label, Alex approached several, before Bass Rebels picked the track up something which Alex is hugely excited about and gives him hope that he will be able to continue to write and produce music for years to come.

’I’m really proud of what I have achieved so far and I’m so excited for my new single to release.

’I never really thought I would have been able to do something like this and I hope I can continue to do so with the support of the people around me.

’I’ve spent so long learning and evolving with production and it’s crazy to see what started as a hobby of spending a couple of hours a day making music after school, develop and grow with me.’

’Never Let Go’ is available from all music streaming services.
