Lifeboat volunteers were called out to deal with another yacht that had run aground in Port St Mary - the second in two days.

A member of the public raised the alarm at just after 11.30pm last night (Sunday) to say that a 30ft yacht had run aground on Chapel Bay. It was not clear at that point if there was anyone on board.

The inshore lifeboat helmed by Richard Leigh and with three crew members on board was launched.

They found the yacht was well aground but no one was on board.

As the vessel was too far aground to attempt a tow, the crew deployed an anchor and put the vessel’s fenders out in order to protect her from the tide.

Sarah Keegan from Port St Mary RNLI said: ‘This was the third call out for Port St Mary RNLI in just over a week.

’As we continue to enjoy the good weather and the remainder of the Bank Holiday weekend, we would remind everyone planning a trip to sea to always respect the water.’

On Friday night, the lifeboat was called out to tow a yacht that had been blown onto the rocks by the slipway in Port St Mary.
