Glen Quayle is 15 years old and currently studying his first year of GCSEs at Ramsey Grammar School.
Glen lives in Baldrine with his parents and four brothers and sisters.
He is a national pole vaulter and has represented the island at national level on numerous occasions.
He has also represented Merseyside, Lancashire and England.
Glenn is currently spending a week gaining work experience on the newsdesk at Isle of Man Newspapers.
What is your idea of a perfect meal?
As an athlete I should probably say something healthy, but for me my perfect meal would be any sort of Italian food like pizza or pasta.
What is your favourite way to relax?
Typically I will either draw or lie in bed and watch a good film with snacks.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Probably my vaulting poles which are in the region of £500 each. This year, however, I have been lucky enough to have sponsors to cover my poles and travel expenses.
Do you have any pets?
Yes, I have two Jack Russell dogs named Lola and Reggie, and a cat called Daisy.
What is your greatest achievement?
Recently, I qualified to represent England at the SIAB schools international competition at the English Schools Championship, which for me is my greatest achievement to date.
What is your favourite time of the year?
Summer, because there is no school and the weather is warm. Sometimes, at least.
What is the first job you ever had?
I currently work as a kitchen porter at Sir Norman’s Bar, at the Sefton Hotel, Douglas Promenade.
Do you have any irrational fears?
I get moderate claustrophobia, so small spaces and rooms without windows scare me.
What is your worst habit?
Laughing way too much at anything and everything which tends to annoy people.
What is your favourite book?
I don’t really enjoy reading or have the time so to be honest I can’t remember the last book I read.
What is your favourite TV programme?
I don’t tend to watch TV but instead I watch Netflix series. My favourites are The Vampire Diaries and American Horror Story.
What is your favourite band/artist at the moment?
I have so many favourites but if I had to choose one I think I’d have to say Twenty One Pilots.
What is your favourite part of the Isle of Man?
I like the views and always being close to the sea. I also like how secure the island is and there is very little extreme crime.
What is the last show/band that you saw live?
I’ve never seen any live performances but hope to go to music festivals and live gigs in the near future.
If time/money were no object, what would be your perfect day?
I’ve always wanted to travel the world so if it were possible to do that in one day, that is how I’d spend it.

I would choose three comedians, Jimmy Fallon, James Corden and Ellen Degeneres.
