Douglas law firm DQ has appointed a new paralegal.

Karen Daly has experience in both the private sector and within the health and social care field but she decided to opt for a change in career and undertook a graduate diploma in law.

She got a taste of working for DQ in the summer of 2022 she has now joined the company permanently.

A paralegal is a legal professional who performs tasks that require knowledge of legal concepts but not the full expertise of a lawyer with a licence to practise law.

‘I am thrilled to have joined a progressive law firm with such a modern approach to the landscape of legal and advisory services and one which places so much importance on offering the highest standards to clients,’ said Mrs Daly.

‘When I approached DQ about working with them on a more permanent basis, they invited me for an interview and offered me a position as a paralegal to learn the essentials before continuing my studies.

‘It is a wonderful grounding and truly an invaluable opportunity that DQ provides. I look forward to working with the whole team and continuing to build on their success in such a professional and welcoming environment.’

Managing director Mark Dougherty added: ‘The appointment of Karen represents another strong strategic recruit to further expand the wealth of knowledge offered by the team. She is a very welcome addition and someone we are excited to bring on board.’
