Kim O’Brien recently joined Callin Wild’s corporate and commercial department.
She joined Callin Wild in 2016 after successfully completing her two year period of articles at another local law firm and gaining a commendation in her Manx Bar Exams by the examiners for a ’distinguished performance’.
Kim practices a broad range of corporate and commercial work but has particular expertise in legal opinions, banking and debt finance, mergers and acquisitions and regulatory advice. Kim worked as an investment accountant in a fund administration company before embarking on her legal studies, and so brings a commercial awareness aspect to her legal advice.
Having worked in the Employment and Work Permit Appeal tribunals, Kim also has a keen interest and expertise in employment matters and is part of Callin Wild’s Employment team, dealing with both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
This includes advising on unfair dismissals, constructive dismissal, redundancies, and regularly reviewing and drafting contracts of employment and staff handbooks.
Kim is also studying for the Level 7 Diploma in Human Resource Management with the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development and sits on the Executive Committee of the Isle of Man CIPD branch which is the representative body for HR practitioners for the Island.
Jeremy Callin, senior partner, said: ’We are delighted to welcome Kim to Callin Wild and look forward to her working in both our commercial and employment teams.
’After gaining a commendation in her bar exams and already providing comprehensive and thorough work in her first few months at Callin Wild, I am confident that Kim will have a long and distinguished career at Callin Wild and the Manx bar.’
