Manx Telecom has apologised to customers after problems with its Manxnet Mail service.
One customer’s experience was typical of many who have had their email off for more than a week.
He called Manx Telecom twice last week and was told that ’the server has been migrated on Sunday (May 23)’, that they have since been ’swamped with calls from customers’, they are ’doing maintenance work’ and ’hundreds of people have been affected’.
A statement from the company read: ’Manx Telecom apologises to customers who have experienced service issues while our supplier Atmail has carried out planned maintenance on the Manx.net email platform.
’As a result of this work, which will ultimately improve reliability, a small number of customers have experienced service issues with their emails. We regret that access to mailboxes has been more disruptive than anticipated.
’Our customer contact centre has also been supporting customers with password queries and reminders of the login process.’
Manx Telecom said that customers with Manx.net email addresses are reminded that they should log in using either mail.manx.net/login or via webmail at https://www.manx.net.
The previous login address has now been phased out.
The maintenance work was due to complete yesterday, June 2, but will continue until the end of this week.
The company added: ’Manx Telecom apologises to those affected and thanks all our Manx.net customers for their patience.’
There was no internet outage as a result of the planned maintenance work, Manx Telecom said.
