One of the world’s biggest stand-up comedians is returning to the island later this month after a 10-year absence.

Light-hearted funny man and TV presenter Michael McIntyre has announced that he will be appearing in the Isle of Man for a concert at the Villa Marina on Monday, February 24.

This will be a warm-up show for the comedian before he resumes his latest leg of his mammoth ’Big World Tour’ later in the spring.

Michael has, quite literally, gone global over the past few years, and has been travelling the world, performing to sold out crowds right across the globe, as part of his tour.

Beginning in late 2017, Michael has already performed across much of the UK, Europe and Australia, along with dates in Hong Kong and Singapore, and his latest lengthy set of tour dates will see him performing to thousands of people in arenas in Ireland as well travelling to America, Canada, Switzerland, Iceland, Sweden and Malta for the first time, as well as revisiting New Zealand, South Africa and Norway.

As this is a warm-up show, the show will not feature new material, but will include some of the highlights of his 2018 Big World Tour show.

Michael has previously performed on the Isle of Man in 2009 to a packed-out Royal Hall.

His lengthy global comedy trek has not stopped him from hosting many television shows, including his own Saturday evening show Michael McIntyre’s Big Show on BBC1.

The previous series, which finished last autumn was watched by an average over 6.5 million viewers and recently received two BAFTA nominations. He has also hosted the ’Michael McIntyre Chat Show’ and appeared on numerous comedy panel shows.

Tickets are £31 and are available online from villagaiety.com

Michael’s show is the first in a long line of top comedy shows in the island next year.

Next month sees Irish stand-up and comedy actor Ardal O’Hanlon appear at the Gaiety Theatre, on Wednesday, March 4, followed by Rob Beckett on Thursday, March 19, at the Villa Marina.

Rhod Gilbert, Henning Berg and Romesh Ranganathan all appear during early April.
