A serving soldier who is absent without leave from the British Army today admitted importing £284,000-worth of cannabis to the island.

Jordan Ashley Brayford appeared at Douglas courthouse after being arrested at a Ramsey hotel.

The 29-year-old, who is from Stoke-on-Trent, will be sentenced at the Court of General Gaol Delivery on March 17.

He is remanded in custody.
