A former soldier accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend has been found not guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

But the jury was unable to reach a verdict on an alternative charge against Lee Michael Dillon of unlawful wounding.

The jury was discharged. Mr Dillion, 28, of Reayrt ny Chrink, Crosby, was granted bail pending a pre-trial review to take place on September 28.

He had pleaded not guilty to both wounding charges and told the jury he had acted in self-defence.
