A 39-year-old driver has been fined £810 for driving without insurance or tax.

Declan Oliver Corkish, of Close Cam in Port Erin, appeared at Douglas Courthouse on Thursday, April 17, and also had his licence endorsed with four penalty points.

The offences were committed on January 31, at Church Road in Port St Mary, while he was driving a Nissan Primastar van.

Police were performing routine checks and found that the van’s tax had expired in April 2024.

Corkish later produced insurance documents, but with a commencement date on the day he had been stopped by police.

Magistrates also ordered the defendant to pay £50 prosecution costs, and all amounts will be paid at a rate of £30 per week.
