Pupils, parents and members of the public enjoyed an educational afternoon at Dhoon School.
A variety of stalls run by the school’s partners were set up as part of ’Discover Day @ Dhoon’ on Thursday, where a number of people had a fun day uncovering helpful information.
The event provided visitors with an opportunity to go around classrooms and look at exhibitions of the children’s work, as well as find out about what the school and its partners do.
Head teacher Max Kelly called the day a success.
’The hall was very busy with lots of people for our biannual "Discover Day @ Dhoon" event, now in its second year,’ he said.
’We had representatives from Ramsey Grammar School, who spoke to parents of year six students, aged 10 and 11, about the move to secondary school and [government agency] Manx Sport and Recreation came in to answer queries about school swimming lessons and to promote their out-of-school activities.
’The Early Help and Additional Support (EHAS) team from Social Services also explained the service they offer and the Society for the Preservation of the Manx Countryside and Environment talked about the work they have done with Dhoon School to support outdoor education, as well as the Family Library, explaining how they facilitate learning through books and reading.’
