Next week is set to be a busy one for the Manx National Youth Band and the Manx Concert Brass ahead of the upcoming Christmas period.
After a concert in Port Erin last month, the Manx Concert Brass – under the direction of Ian Clague MBE – will venture west for a concert at St German’s Cathedral in Peel.
The concert takes place next Wednesday (November 20) at 8pm, with a wide range of music on offer to suit all tastes.
A day later on Thursday evening (November 21), the Manx National Youth Band will be playing a programme at Braddan Church at 7:30pm.
Band chairman Steve Maddocks said: ‘The hectic Christmas schedule of brass bands is virtually upon us, but there’s no let-up in a busy musical schedule for the Manx National Youth Band and Manx Concert Brass.
‘Musicians of all ages enjoy getting out and about into our community to spread some festive cheer and that will certainly be the case in the busy run-up to Christmas.
‘Firstly though, we are looking forward to playing in the wonderful setting of the Cathedral, which has such a rich history and is the perfect backdrop for an evening of music.
‘It is always special to showcase some of our talented younger players in the organisation and we will do that the following evening. The concert at Braddan Church is a great opportunity to demonstrate what they have been learning on a weekly basis.
‘Both concerts are free to attend and we hope to see as many people as possible.’
The Manx Youth Band will be playing a ‘Gateway Carol Concert’ on Thursday, December 12, while ‘Candlelight Carols’ at Braddan Church from the Manx Concert Brass will take place on Sunday, December 15.
