An island art gallery has announced the opening of its winter exhibition.

The new show opens at The Hodgson Loom art gallery in Laxey on Saturday, November 16, and will feature a range of different artwork including watercolours, acrylics, sculptures and ceramics.

Julia Ashby Smyth, the curator of the gallery, said: ‘As a prelude to our huge Nancy Corkish exhibition in early 2025, we are bringing together a special selection of Nancy’s previously unseen paintings, pastels and sketches together with three paintings by David Byrne.

‘Exhibiting alongside these legends of the Manx artworld will be work by the equally talented Ellie Baker, Erica Kermode, Helen Winter, Xin Christian and Mark Smyth.

‘This exhibition is our pre-Christmas winter show. Everything is for sale and can be collected well before Christmas.

‘With both Nancy and David no longer with us, it is a rare opportunity to be able to celebrate their extensive artistic talents and even be able to purchase a piece of their work for yourselves.’

The exhibition is open from Tuesday to Saturday between 10am and 5pm and will run up until Saturday, January 4.
