Three nights of entertainment are set to take place in Castletown at the end of the month.

Quids Inn has partnered with Jokers Comedy Club to stage Let There Be Roses at Morton Hall from Thursday October 27 to Saturday, October 29.

The festival kicks off with a night of comedy, with three UK comedians brought over by Jokers, including Mark Nelson as the headline act.

It will be followed by two nights of live music with bands including DC/AC on Friday and Dusty Plankton on Saturday.

Festival organiser and Quids Inn landlord Andy Saunders told Island Life he was keen to offer something different to residents across the island.

‘The event came together when we were speaking to Jokers Comedy Club and they had a chance to bring in these three massive comedians,’ he said.

‘We’ve been looking to build experience in running bigger gigs and festival style events, and offer something different to the public in various areas of the island.

‘Live comedy and music are a natural mix and offer the performing arts audiences of the island a chance to get out and enjoy various forms of performance for a very reasonable overall cost.’

The Thursday’s line-up features headliner Mark Nelson, fresh from a sell out show at the Edinburgh Fringe. He’s established himself as one of the UK’s biggest-hitting comedy powerhouses with his mix of dark humour, cutting observations and superb one-liners.

Mark will be joined by Martin Mor, who was named Comedians Comedian of the Year in 2021, and MC Danny McLoughlin, who is one of the leading lights at the world-famous Hot Water Comedy Club in Liverpool.

The Friday night will see one of the island’s favourite tribute acts, DC/AC, return to the stage following their top Villa performance during the TT.

They will be supported by Oasis tribute act Heathen Chemistry.

And on the Saturday, distinctive and funky originals band Dusty Plankton will play. They will be supported by the Complete Stones Roses tribute act, who have been very successful on previous island visits,

DJ Ninjafingers will also be providing music on the night.

Explaining the choice of venue, Andy said: ‘We looked around the island for a starter venue for our first venture and Morton Hall fits the bill, both physically in layout and size, but also with the encouragement they’ve offered us and willing to work with us to make sure the event is great for everyone.’

And he said he was delighted to be partnering with Jokers, given their record of staging great comedy nights.

There will be a fully licensed bar available throughout the event and Castletown’s own Wrappers Delight will be providing food.

Tickets are available from www.lethereberoses.com

There are a few Rover tickets still available, which gives guests one night free when you buy the other two nights. Tickets for individual nights cost £15 for the Thursday, £17.50 for the Friday and £22.50 for the Saturday.

There are also a very small number of VIP tickets, which includes transport, priority seating, nibbles and bubbles for the Thursday.

Organisers are also looking into availability of transport to and from Douglas for each evening, if there is enough interest.
