Charity Foxdale Heritage is organising a sponsored walk to raise funds to maintain the Foxdale Heritage Centre, formerly the village’s railway station building, which was built in 1886.

The charity said it has ’managed to carry out an external renovation, thanks to the Manx Lottery Trust, in an attempt to reveal the building’s original attractive features as much as possible.’

It added: ’However, there is a great deal of work to do in order to enable photographs, information, memorabilia, artefacts etc. to continue to be displayed properly and safely. Much of the interior needs urgent attention.’

The walk will take place in Archallagan Plantation on Sunday, November 1, at 2 pm.

Walkers should meet at car park 2, off the Ballavar Road, where they can sign in with sponsor forms.

Sturdy footwear is recommended for the walk, which is about 5km (three miles).

Sponsor forms are available at the Baltic Inn in Foxdale, or the Foxdale petrol station.
