Staff at a Douglas financial services firm have been sent home following a Covid alert.
One floor at Nedbank Private Wealth on Hill Street has been evacuated and staff sent home.
They were told this morning that a colleague had tested positive for Covid.A total of 183 staff work in Nedbank's Isle of Man office and just over half were sent to work from home.A statement from the firm said: 'We can confirm that this morning we were advised that an Isle of Man-based member of staff had tested positive for Covid-19.'Following the confirmation, established protocols were put into action and a number of staff have been advised to leave the office and work from home for a period of initially 14 days as a precaution. 'The office is closed to members of the public until further notice.'The government track and trace team have been contacting any individuals who have been in close contact with the staff member to advise of any other specific individual actions that may need to be taken.'We continue to follow government guidance across our locations. Due to our contingency planning staff were able to quickly move to work from home, having already done so for a period earlier last year. 'Staff remain dedicated to providing the excellent support clients can expect from Nedbank Private Wealth.'The wellbeing of our staff, clients and the island community remains our priority and we wish our staff member well for a speedy recovery.'Meanwhile, B&B Furniture on the Snugborough Trading Estate has announced it is closing as a precaution after a customer tested positive for Covid.The store posted on Facebook: 'We have been contacted by 111 Track and Trace team, as a customer had visited our showroom on January 2. This person has since tested positive for Covid-19.'111 contacted us once track & trace was initiated late on January 4.'We then quickly traced the movements of the customer in the store, identified only one contact with a member of staff who has since been tested and has had a negative result.'Our member of staff and their family are now, as a precaution, self-isolating for until further notice. Our delivery and fitting staff were not on the premises and are continuing as normal.'We have followed government advice but have decided for the health and well-being of our staff and customers, to close our doors and as a precaution the area will now be deep cleaned.'To the customers who have visited our store in the interim we would encourage contact with the 111 service if Covid symptoms develop.'We will of course reopen as soon as we feel it is safe to do so.'
