The second planned qualifying session of TT 2024 on Tuesday evening was cancelled because of the weather.
The session had looked in doubt for most of the day after overnight rain continued until early afternoon.
Nevertheless, some late-afternoon sunshine encouraged organisers to proceed as planned, with roads closing as scheduled at 6pm.
Just before the first bikes were about to leave the Grandstand at 6.30pm, however, rain began falling again on the west of the course.
After a series of short delays, in the hope conditions would improve, clerk of course Gary Thompson called time on the session just after 7pm without a bike having left the startline.
The third qualifying session of the week is planned for Wednesday night with roads closing at 6pm.
