A recent Douglas Probus lunch had Age Concern chairman and joint deputy chairman of Manx National Heritage Malcolm Kelly as the guest speaker.

He gave a talk about the Peel lifeboat and its history dating back to 1828 and the number of different RNLI boats the Peel station had from then up to the arrival of the latest RNLI boat the Frank and Brenda Winter.

The members of the club were impressed with Mr Kelly’s talk which was supported by some photographs of the boats in action.

A Probus club provides regular gatherings of retired or semi-retired men who appreciate and value opportunities to meet others in similar circumstances and of similar levels of interest
