Garff Commissioners have confirmed the recycling drop off point at the Liverpool Arms has closed ’with immediate effect’.

The local authority said: ’Heron & Brearley, the current owners, have reported incidents of fly-tipping and have asked that they be removed forthwith.

’The closure of the facilities is extremely regrettable, but the commissioners will seek an alternative site in liaison with the Department of Infrastructure.

’Currently there are alternative recycling Bring Banks on Glen Road in Laxey and at Onchan Commissioners Office car park.’

An appeal is due to be heard on April 30 for the closed pub after planners rejected H&B’s attempt to have the building designated as a private house.
