The Manx Wildlife Trust (MWT) has issued a fresh appeal to local anglers and community members following the rescue of a second seal from Fenella Beach in Peel last week.
The young seal, nicknamed Fen, was discovered in a weakened state with eye issues requiring medical treatment.
She was taken to the Trust’s rehabilitation centre for care.
MWT now finds itself responsible for two recovering seals – Fen and another recently rescued seal named Basil – both of whom require ongoing support and nourishment.
‘Fen was very lethargic and has problems with her eyes that require treatment’, a MWT spokesperson shared.
‘This means we now have two hungry seals to feed.’
The Trust is appealing for donations of fresh fish to help sustain the seals during their rehabilitation.
‘Please if you have any spare fish or are going out fishing this weekend please could you bring a few extra home with you for Basil and Fen’, the MWT spokesperson continued.
Manx Wildlife Trust is a nature conservation charity in the Isle of Man, caring for land, sea and fresh water environments.
Last month MTW rescued a seal named Isabella and they thanked everyone who had donated fish.
They’re hoping Basil and Fen get the same treatment, and anyone able to help is encouraged to contact MWT or drop donations to their office in Peel or directly to their marine appeal.
The Trust thanked the community for their ongoing support.
