Douglas-based company Microgaming has donated £7,500 to Teenage Cancer Trust.

Teenage Cancer Trust received this donation as part of Microgaming’s Gift of Giving campaign.

The charity was selected by customers and what the company calls ’key stakeholders’ as winner of Gift of Giving 2016 for UK and Europe.

From the campaign, Microgaming, through its Play It Forward programme, has donated £30,000 between four charities, instead of Christmas presents.

Sabina Ruta, Teenage Cancer Trust regional fundraiser, said: ’We’ve made amazing progress in making sure young people with cancer have the best care and support.

We’re incredibly grateful to Microgaming and everyone who voted for us for helping us to make sure that no young person will have to face cancer alone.’

Teenage Cancer Trust is dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for the seven young people aged 13 to 24 diagnosed with cancer every day.

The charity funds and builds specialist units in NHS hospitals and provides dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

It says that young people who are treated alongside children or elderly patients at the end of their lives can feel isolated, some never meeting another young person with cancer.

Teenage Cancer Trust also educates young people and health professionals about cancer to help improve the speed and quality of diagnosis.
