A wooden fairground horse sold in an auction of the late artist Simon Buttimore’s possessions has sparked memories for a number of Manx residents after we featured it in a story.
Buyer Ernest Andrews, from Hampshire, plans to restore the horse but wanted to know its history. It’s thought to have formed part of a ride at White City, but reader Bob Kewley mentioned seeing the remains of a similar ride at Glen Wyllin and riding on one as a boy at Silverdale. Peter Heaton contacted us to say his father, Jack, painted signs and rides, including horses at White City and other fairgrounds.
