The steps on the Laxey headland path have been closed by the Department of Infrastructure.

A DoI spokesperson said: 'It has been chalked up for maintenance work for a little while and was to be included in our programmed work.

'The condition was such that it was considered safe to allow access until our Public Rights of Way team could get to it.

'Poor weather over the winter has seen the condition of the site significantly worsen (blown down fencing, etc.), and it has been decided that it should be closed until a remedy can be achieved.

'It is intended to repair steps, fencing and styles. A further update will be given when it is known exactly when works can be started.'
