While party conferences have been shelved in the UK, the Isle of Man Green Party is inviting the public to its second annual event.
Open to the public, the Green Conference 2020, the party said it will provide and opportunity for the Green Party to ’raise the profile of the expertise, knowledge, and inspiring individuals in the Isle of Man’.
The conference will be held on Saturday, October 17, at the Civic Centre, Farrants Way, Castletown.
A spokesman said the conference would give members and the public to engage with what the Green Party called ’fundamentally important concepts’ such as creating bold visions for our future’, changing politics, legalising hemp and ’foraging for local produce and eating sustainably’.
Starting at 1.45, the conference will at 2pm hear from Sarah Mercer, who is talking about ’Island Utopias - Thinking big on a small island’
Douglas South MHK Chris Thomas will give a talk titled ’The 2021-2026 Programme for Government or Agenda for Change?’ from 2.35pm.
Bob Comish will give a talk on the The Manx Hemp Campaign from 3.35pm. Before Pippa Lovell will give a talk titled ’What she found’ from 4.05pm.
Party leader Andrew Langan-Newton said: ’After a successful first Green Conference in 2019 the Green Party this year has four passionate and engaging speakers on important and highly relevant topics to inform the Green Party’s vision for a sustainable future for the Isle of Man.’
