Erica Spencer has announced her intention to stand as an MHK candidate for Ramsey.
She lists her priorities as health and wellbeing, housing, education, the economy, and climate change.
Ms Spencer says it is time ’we took a realistic look at how we support first time buyers’, and hopes to see the island ’once again’ become a holiday destination of choice.
She also believes we should ’put environmental sustainability at the heart of everything we do’ and ’demand that new [housing] developments have sustainable options such as solar power and water capture incorporated’.
A Doctorate holder with a degree in environmental science, Ms Spencer helped undertake marine surveys for the first campaign against the Ramsey Marina project.
She opposes this development because of the importance of the Ramsey Marine Nature Reserve and the need to preserve South Beach for the town.
Dr Alex Allinson and Lawrie Hooper are defending their seats in the constituency, and other candidates to announce are Leonard Singer, Jonathan Kinrade, and Luke Parker.
All candidates must submit their nomination papers and declaration of relevant interest forms to their constituency’s returning officer between now and 1pm on Wednesday, August 25.
