A first today as Tynwald is sitting with a near empty chamber, with members taking part via the internet.
Only President Steve Rodan, Speaker Juan Watterson and the Sword of State are present in the Legislative Council Chamber.
Today the government is seeking permission to continue with some emergency powers granted to it during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mr Rodan: ’In the long history of parliamentary government in the Isle of Man, this is the first time Tynwald has not sat in Castle Rushen, St Johns or Douglas.’
He added that the world’s older parliament may be the first in the world to be able to carry out its legislative duty remotely.
