Island writer Rona Halsall releases her latest novel today (Thursday).

’Love You Gone’ is the second book by the island-based author, and is a psychological thriller, set around North Wales and the Lake District.

The book, described as an ’incredible, page-turner with a twist you won’t see coming’, is centred on the mysterious disappearance of a family when on holiday.

Rona said that the book is based around the theme of domestic violence, and the idea that sometimes family life isn’t all that it seems.

’Without giving too much away, "Love You Gone" centres around domestic violence, but from a different perspective,’ said Rona.

’There are a few other topics covered too.

’With writing psychological thrillers, I think a lot of story lines have been done, and you have to try to find angles that may not have been tackled before.

’Although domestic abuse is a common theme, I think that the angle I have approached it from hasn’t been done before. I was trying to find a different angle on something that a lot of people would relate to.’

Rona set her book in areas she was familiar with, and also that she was sure others would also be able to visualise.

’I like to set the books in places that I am familiar with,’ she said.

’I lived in North Wales for the best part of 25 years, so I could visualise that quite well. Also, I set it on the edge of the Grizedale forest, in the Lake District, as I needed somewhere fairly creepy to place it in.

’I wanted to pick a setting that people would immediately be able to visualise.

’A lot of people go on holiday there, and also to Lake Windermere, so people will be able to set it in their minds quite easily.

’My first one was called "Keep You Safe", and was set on the Isle of Man, which a lot of people really enjoyed.

’I had such positive feedback to that book, and a lot of people who have read the first one have pre-ordered this one too, which is great.’

So far, ’Love You Gone’ has attracted many positive and glowing reviews online.

’Love You Gone’ is published by the digital publishers Bookoutoure, and is available for download online from all major outlets.

It is also available as a print copy, from Bridge Bookshop in Port Erin and Ramsey.
