The island’s leading lady Samantha Barks has confirmed her time in New York will end in the coming weeks.
Miss Barks, who grew up in Lonan, has played the lead female role of Vivian since Pretty Woman The Musical was launched on Broadway in October 2018 at the Nederlander Theatre.
The musical is based on the 1990 hit film Pretty Woman which starred Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.
Taking to Twitter, she confirmed that she and co-star Andy Karl who plays Edward will take their final bow on Saturday, July 21.
From the following night onwards, the pair will be replaced by Jillian Mueller, who appears in the ensemble of the musical and understudies the role of Vivian and Brennin Hunt who will be taking on the Edward role.
Miss Barks tweeted to the new leading stars, saying: ’Congratulations to our new Vivian and Edward who will be taking over in July. What an amazing year this has been.
’Thank you New York for having me.’
The show is due to begin a run in Germany starting in September this year. An American tour is also planned for next year and the show’s West End debut was confirmed for 2020 by singer Bryan Adams, who has co-written the music and lyrics for the musical.
The cast for these shows has yet to be confirmed.
Miss Barks’ next move is not yet known.
