Ramsey Commissioners have agreed to ask the Northern Civic Amenity Site (NCAS) Joint Committee to reopen the reuse shed.

Back in August, the committee stated that it was not being used for its ‘intended purpose’, and caused a bottleneck at the site because people were staying longer than the recommended time or visiting multiple times a day.

Over 1,000 people have signed a petition to get the area reopened.

Following an email to the local authority asking for recycling to be ‘tackled’ locally, commissioner Juan McGuinness said the services requested by the resident should be provided by NCAS and not the commissioners.

Otherwise, Mr McGuinness said the local authority could end up ‘carrying the burden of costs’ for a service all residents in the north need.
