Famous around the world as the smallest production cars ever made, two Peel built vehicles have returned to the island.
A 1963 Peel P50 and 1965 Peel Trident have been bought by the Isle of Man Motor Museum and will form part of its celebration of the manufacturer.
The two cars will also feature as part of the museum’s Classic and Modified Vehicle show on Sunday.
Museum director Darren Cunningham told the Examiner they are using the ’end of season show’ as an opportunity to give people a ’sneak preview’ at the cars ahead of their Peel Engineering Company exhibition next year.
Mr Cunningham said: ’These two Peel cars have been together as part of the same collection in Austria since the mid-1980s and we are very excited to have brought them back to their birthplace for our visitors to enjoy.
’The two Peel cars will be the featured exhibits in a new display planned to open in 2021 focusing on the work of Peel Engineering.
’If anyone has any artefacts, photographs or memories relating to Peel Engineering that they wish to share with the public, the museum would greatly appreciate hearing from you.’
The show is at the museum in Jurby from 10am to 2pm on Sunday, September 27 with refreshments available from Fire and Ice.
Anyone with artefacts from the Peel Engineering Company or who has memories of the company, can contact the museum via Facebook, email [email protected] or call 888333.
