To mark 100 years since Bentley scooped the team award in the last motorcar Tourist Trophy race to be contested in the Isle of Man, approximately 100 cars from the early to mid-1920s will visit the island next summer.

The vast majority will be Bentleys of the chassis type that finished second, fourth and fifth in that amazing 1922 TT race.

It will create a fabulous spectacle with the cars lining up on the new Douglas promenade (all being well) putting on a fabulous show for the crowds with a police-escorted lap of the full 37.7-mile Mountain Course.

The organisers of BentleyTT100 are working closely with the Department for Enterprise, and, with the help of the Knox group as headline sponsor, to put on an memorable event over the weekend of June 25-26.

The conditions back in 1922 were utterly dreadful, with dark skies and heavy rain flooding much of the muddy, stony course.

The party is being joined by a posse of vintage Sunbeam three-litres, including the actual race-winning car. The owner of that will be flying in from Thailand, and a further attraction could be one of the 1922 TT Grand Prix Vauxhalls.

Also taking part in the commemorative lap will be EXP2, the oldest Bentley in existence, being brought over by Bentley Motors from the Crewe factory.

More on the event to follow.
