Dot Tilbury picked up the 2019 Cycling Weekly Local Hero award in London on Thursday evening.

Widely heralded for her work in nurturing the island’s wealth of cycling talent - including the likes of Mark Cavendish, Peter Kennaugh, Anna and Mark Christian, Lizzie Holden and Amelia Sharpe et al - Dot was one of three people in the running for the accolade which recognises heroes of road cycling from top professional athletes to local volunteers around the UK.

She was nominated by members of the public with a panel of judges - including Olympic and world champions Dani Rowe MBE and Colin Sturgess, ex-UCI and British Cycling president Brian Cookson - selecting her for the shortlist.
