The race for a place in the end-of-season Gold Cup faces a potentially pivotal weekend in JCK Division Two.
The pick of the day’s games is arguably at the Nivison Stadium where fifth-placed Onchan welcome current league runners-up Castletown in a match which could go a long way in deciding who finishes in the top four in May.
Town are five points ahead of the Os at present but have played a game more, therefore if Onchan make home advantage count this Saturday then it would be a significant boost to their hopes of contesting the annual second division cup.
Should Castletown drop points then third-placed Braddan will be waiting in the wings to leapfrog them into the promotion places should they get the better of Malew at Clagh Vane. The southerners belied their lowly position as they put up a brave fight against Town in their last outing so they will be hoping for a similar showing this time around.
The team propping up the table, Michael Utd, face the unenvious taking of travelling to leaders Douglas Royal in a game the hosts will be expected to win quite comfortably.
Things should be considerably closer at Noble’s Park where Douglas and District will be hoping to spring something of an upset at home to Gold Cup-chasing Marown.
