The race for a place in this season’s GH Corlett Woods Cup final takes centre stage this weekend when four sides battle it out in the competition’s semi-finals.
The pick of the two games is arguably at Victoria Road where promotion and title-chasing Braddan host in-form Pulrose United.
On paper, you would have to favour the Swans to book their place in Good Friday’s final at the Bowl.
However, Pully stunned Onchan with an impressive 4-1 win at the Nivison Stadium in the previous round thanks thanks to a brace from Darren Flanagan plus strikes from Owen Canipa and James Maginn.
That being said though, these two sides have already met twice this season, with Braddan winning the league meeting 4-1 while the more recent FA Cup clash last month was much closer at 5-4 so the Swans will be confident of seeing off the Pully challenge.
In the other Woods Cup semi-final, Castletown welcome Gymns to The Stadium and will start as favourites to progress.
Gymns have endured a tough season but could still end it with silverware and will be buoyed by their 7-2 win over RYCOB last time out in which no fewer than six different players scored.
Town won the previous meeting 6-1 in October and will be hoping for a repeat, but Gymns may just make life difficult for them.
