There are a couple of tasty-looking games in prospect in JCK Division Two this weekend.
The matches in question are arguably between Union Mills and Onchan at Garey Mooar, plus RYCOB against Colby at Scoill ree Gorree.
The game between the Millers and the Os is effectively a shootout between two sides hoping to jostle into contention for the top four and with it a possible place in the end-of-season Gold Cup. Onchan are currently sixth some four points ahead of Mills - albeit having played a game more - and are five points adrift of the top four so this looks set to be a close contest.
The same could be said of the Youthie v Colby game in the north of the island. A few weeks ago, the hosts would have been firm favourites to win this one, but Colby are resurgent and go into the match on the back of a fine win over Foxdale so this one could go either way.
Douglas and District will fancy their chances of claiming their sixth win of the season when they host Michael United at Noble’s Park, hoping to complete the double having beaten the westerners 8-2 in October.
Like Colby, Ayre United are also a potentially renewed force and they will be hoping to cause third-placed Malew a few problems in the north at Andreas.
Foxdale are aiming to bounce back from that defeat to Colby and host a tricky Gymns side at Billy Goat Park, while leaders Pulrose United will be favourites to beat bottom side Governor’s Athletic. All games kick-off at 2.30pm.
