The Isle of Man’s search for a first NatWest Island Games gold medal in football will continue this June in Gotland.

The Isle of Man FA’s men’s team have been beaten finalists on no less than four occasions, while the island’s women’s side were silver medalists in 2011.

Nick Hurt’s men’s side, who lost out to Guernsey in the final of the 2015 Games, will begin their search for the thus far elusive gold with group games against Norwegian island Hitra, Ynys Mô* (Anglesey) and the Falklands.

If Hurt’s charges advance through group C they could face 2015 gold medalists Guernsey in the semi-finals.

The latter are paired with Ã?land, Saremaa and the Shetlands in group D of the 16-team men’s competition.

Michael Quilliam’s women’s team will initially face Ã?land, the Western Isles and Ynys Mô* (Anglesey) in group B of their 11-team tournament.

If the Manx win their group they could face 2015 hosts and champions Jersey who make up group C along with Isle of Wight and Gibraltar.

The complete fixture list will be released by competition organisers on February 8. The Games take place between June 24 and June 30.
