Laxey beat Douglas High School Old Boys 5-1 to lift the Kirby Estates Cowell Cup at the Bowl on Tuesday evening.
The final scoreline flattered Darryl Haslett and David Corlett’s champions a little, two late goals adding some gloss to the result.
Old Boys’ cause wasn’t helped by two sendings off.
Ryan Gartland, who had given his side a 16th-minute lead, was sent off less than 10 minutes later by referee Neshko Marinov for swearing.
The Miners drew level at the end of the first half through Danny Bailey before Tom Murray fired Laxey ahead at the start of the second period.
Joe Walters added a third as the game opened up before sub Cian Brock put the result beyond doubt inside the final eight minutes.
Old Boys’ defender Lewis Daly then picked up his side’s second straight red of the evening when he commited a foul as last man.
With even more room to play with Matty Wilkinson added a fifth for his time in stoppage time to compound Old Boys’ misery further.
