Saturday’s Manx football programme was all but wiped out by the overnight rain.

Only two games went ahead in the end one in the Friends Provident International FA Cup and one in the Canada Life Premier League.

In the cup quarter-finals, Peel beat second division Pulrose United 6-0 at Douglas Road.

Braces from Lee Gale, Tom Wood, a single strike from Kerron Christian and an own goal secured the Railway Cup winners a place in the competition’s last four.

Marown all but secured top-flight football next season as they triumphed 1-2 at Castletown in the afternoon’s other game.

In a match heavily influenced by the strong wind, Jack Camarda put Town ahead only for Ashley Higginbotham and Matty McQuarrie to score in the second 45 and seal the points for the Crosby side.

The result leaves Marown 10 points clear of bottom side Laxey with the Miners having four games left to play. Town are a point worse off than the Crosby team and face Laxey at Glen Road on Saturday.

Full reports on both games in Tuesday’s Examiner.
