Shaun Kelly has been named as the Canada Life Premier League Player of the Month for May.
The Ayre United ace rounded off a memorable season with the Tangerines with his second monthly accolade of the campaign, having won the first prize back in September.
Kelly helped the Tangerines clinch a maiden Premier League title during 2021-22 as well as playing a key role in the Andreas side lifting the Railway Cup and FA Cup.
During the final few weeks of the season in May, Kelly and Ayre got the better of former Grand Slam winners St George’s, drew with defending champions Corinthians before ending the season with a hat-trick during an 8-1 thrashing of Douglas Royal.
As such, Kelly impressed Eric Clague’s player ratings panel to the tune of seven points which was enough to see him top the monthly rankings and claim the Canada Life-sponsored accolade.
Only half a mark behind him in the monthly standings was St George’s defender Karl Clark who rounded off a fine individual campaign with more strong performances during May.
Clark shone during the aforementioned match with Ayre, before also impressing against Laxey and Rushen United as the Saints ended the season third in the table.
Completing the top three in the monthly rankings were two players both on five points, namely George Rawlinson and Eamon McKiernan.
Rawlinson has been one of Ayre’s leading lights during their charge towards a first top flight league title, forming a formidable centre-back partnership with defensive cohort Jamie Callister in the heart of the Tangerines’ backline.
McKiernan has caught the eye in recent weeks in between the sticks for Laxey, with the talented goalkeeper producing a string of impressive performances to impress Eric Clague’s player ratings panel.
As such, McKiernan has been named as the Canada Life Young Player of the Month for May, narrowly pipping Douglas Royal’s Taylor Andrews to the award.
