Colby Football Club officially opened its new Roy Dixon Stand at the Station Fields last weekend.
The Moonlighters’ ground already boasts three grass pitches, an Astro pitch and a clubhouse.
Prior to their game against Governor’s Athletic in JCK Division Two on Saturday, the new 51-seater stand - which includes two disabled spaces with wheelchair access - was officially opened by club president Roy Dixon.
The stand is named in Roy’s honour in recognition of the major contribution he has made - and still does - to the management and continued development of the club.
Ken Skinner thanked Roy for his work over the years and said that without his drive and enthusiasm it was unlikely that the club would be where it is today.
He also thanked the Manx Lottery Trust for its help in funding the new stand which will provide much-needed shelter for spectators and hopefully encourage more people to come along and support the team and join in the club’s social activities and events.
After the formalities, photos were taken of supporters and players in the stand before both first and combination teams played their opening matches of the season.
