The fixtures computer has thrown up a fascinating early-season southern derby in JCK Division Two this weekend.
The game in question takes place at Clagh Vane in Ballasalla and sees Malew host Castletown, two teams expected to challenge for honours this season.
The neighbouring teams both enjoyed resounding wins of the opening day of the new campaign last Saturday when Town thrashed Gymns 6-0 and Malew brushed aside Governor’s Athletic 6-1.
The hosts were one of the busiest teams in the transfer market over the summer and boast a wealth of attacking talent, while the visitors will be hoping to build on their impressive season last year, therefore a good game could be in store.
Elsewhere there are also intriguing games involving RYCOB v Onchan and Union Mills v Foxdale. Youthie strengthened extremely well in the off-season and were being tipped for glory this season, but will be hard-pushed against the well-drilled and talented Os.
Mills lost to an 93rd minute winner against Marown on the opening day so will be hoping to put that right at home to Foxdale, although the latter are also expected to feature high up the table this year so this one’s perhaps too close to call.
Pulrose United will be favourites to claim the three points on offer when they travel to Gymns, as will Marown who visit Governor’s Athletic, while Douglas and District will be aiming to derail Ayre United’s decent start to the season.
