Rushen United won the Ascot Hotel Junior Cup for a record 18th time at the Bowl on Wednesday evening, beating Douglas Royal 2-1 in the final.
Jamie Cadwallader gave the Spaniards a first-half lead before Jordan Watterson doubled their advantage shortly after the restart.
Royal were presented with the glorious opportunity to pull a goal back on 62 minutes when they were awarded a penalty, but Stuart Foley’s effort struck the post.
The same player made amends on 93 minutes though, pulling a goal back for the Whites to set up a nervy finish.
But the southerners did enough to hold on to secure the trophy and bring to an end the 2020-21 Manx football season.
A full report will appear in next week’s Isle of Man Examiner, on sale Tuesday morning.
