Peel’s in-form forward Billy Kennaugh has been called-up for the Isle of Man FA’s under-18 squad for Saturday’s FA Inter-League Cup quarter-final.
The talented teen has scored four goals in his last two games, including a hat-trick against Braddan last time out.
Aside from Kennaugh, coach Lewis Qualtrough has largely kept faith with the squad that has teed up the last-eight tie with Norfolk at the Bowl. Looking ahead to Saturday’s 5pm kick-off, Qualtrough said: ’At this stage of the competition we know that every game is going to be very competitive.
’With Norfolk winning and keeping a clean sheet after travelling as far up as Northumberland in their last round, we are expecting a very tough game.
’We have organised training sessions throughout the holiday period since the last game against Middlesex in order to help the lads to try and impress again.
’I am happy that we have been drawn at home again in order to give both family and friends the chance to cheer them on. ’
A victory over the East Anglian’s would see the islanders equal their best ever run in the competition.
In 2008-09 season a Manx side featuring the likes of Josh Kelly, Jack McVey and Chris Cannell reached the cup’s semi-finals, losing on penalties to Kent at a muddy Bowl.
