Castletown Golf Club is to host a round of the 2020 GolfCatcher PGA EuroPro Tour this summer.

The PGA EuroPro Tour Castletown Championship will take place between August 12-14 with a field of approximately 156 professional golfers taking part.

The event will begin with a practice day on Monday, August 10, followed by a Pro-Am on the Tuesday and tournament days on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Speaking to the Manx Independent earlier this week, Castletown Golf Club’s operation manager Andi Howland commented: ’We are delighted to have the opportunity to boost awareness of the quality of golf available in the island and we hope the local sporting community will embrace the announcement and turnout in good numbers to show their support for what will be a brilliant golfing spectacle.

’It is particularly timely given the outstanding success Tom Gandy had on the EuroPro Tour last year and we hope that, should Tom’s schedule allow it, we might see him pegging it up at the Links where he is a member.

’As part of the event coverage, the event is aired on Sky Sports Golf HD in the UK and Ireland, with a two-hour highlights programme being shown on at least four separate occasions.

’The Tour averages 250,000 viewers per event on Sky Sports Golf and reaches over 500 million homes worldwide in 140 countries globally, covering continents such as Australia, Asia, USA, Europe and Africa.

’Equally as impressive are the tour’s online stats. Each event achieves over 750,000 impressions on their social media platforms (25 million impressions annually), 250,000 unique hits on www.europrotour.com and 35,000 hits on their app.
