SAS Events has taken the difficult decision to cancel both the Microgaming PlayItForward Lighthouses Challenge and Canaccord TT Course Sportive.
The events were scheduled for Sundays July 5 and August 2 respectively.
The cancellations are purely because of the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Steve Shimmin commented this week: ’It is impossible to make any plans as we simply do not know what the situation will be.
’British Cycling has suspended all sanctioned events up to June 30 and I think it likely that there will be a further extension to that.’
The provisional dates for 2021 are: Lighthouses Challenge (Sunday, July 4) and TT Course Sportive (Sunday, August 1).
l In view of the ongoing UK Government advice on coronavirus social distancing, Cycling Time Trials has extended the current suspension of all CTT events up to and including June 30.
This means that it will not now be possible to hold many of the National Youth Championship district heats (including the one in the Isle of Man), which have to be completed between June 15 and July 20.
Consequently, anyone (minimum age12) who wishes to ride in the National 10-mile final on September 12 can send their entries by email to [email protected]
If over-subscribed, recommendations from the heat organisers will be taken into account. All this depends on future coronavirus developments.
