Unfortunately, because of the amount of marshals, officials, civil defence and first aiders required to cover the length of the course, first used for a race in 1970. In addition to the financial commitments needed to make the event a success, promoting club Manx Fell Runners say the entry numbers of recent years, and again this year, do not justify the organisation involved.
This year’s event will go ahead as planned as a commitment to the off-island competitors who have made the effort to enter and plan ahead.
Entries close before the event, no entries for the full marathon are available on the day. Entries for the 28km half-marathon will be available on the day but pre-entry is preferred where possible.
