A Douglas teenager has been fined £500 after a Black Eye Friday night out ended with him being arrested.

Samuel Gordon, of Willaston Crescent, squared up to people and swore at police outside the Outback bar in Barrack Street.

When spoken to by police he swore using the ’F’ word and said: ’What do you want? ’You think you’re here to help but you’re not.’

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes told the 18-year-old: ’This would appear to be your first brush with the law and I hope it’s your last. Police would have been busy and distracted by your behaviour. Obviously you consumed more alcohol that you were able to deal with.’

Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that police were called to the Outback at 3.50am on December 21. Security staff said that Gordon had been squaring up to people but when police spoke to him he started to verbally abuse them.

He was then said to have attempted to fight a man and raised his finger in a rude gesture to police.

He continued swearing until he was eventually arrested.

Defence advocate Paul Glover said: ’This is a young man of 18 who simply had too much to drink and should have gone home when told to do so. He has learnt a valuable lesson.’

High Bailiff Mrs Hughes also ordered Gordon to pay £125 prosecution costs.

He will pay the fine and costs at a rate of £200 per month.
