The appeals court has this afternoon sentenced paedophile Charles Cover to 21 months in prison.

Judge of Appeal Jeremy Storey and Deemster Alastair Montgomerie quashed the 18-month suspended sentence handed down by Deemster Kainth in July.

Attorney General John Quinn referred the sentence of Cover to the Appeal Division of the courts on the basis of ’undue leniency’.

A jury in February found Cover guilty of gross indecency and the indecent assault of a minor. She was aged 11 or 12 at the time.
