A tree set aside for charity has been stolen from a plantation in the north of the island.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture said it is ’stepping up patrols at its various Christmas tree plots following the vandalism and theft’.
A statement added: ’The tree in question was one of a few earmarked for various charitable organisations and local authorities across the Island.
’Woodland visitors are asked to report any suspicious activity, as a repeat of this illegal activity could jeopardise the availability of trees for good causes in future years.’
