One of the finest guitarists to emerge from the island is to return home later this year to headline at one of the island’s motorcycling events.
World famous blues guitarist Davy Knowles is to appear on the last night of the Classic TT with a concert at the TT Mercury club at the Grandstand on Monday, August 31.
The f islander, who grew up in Port St Mary, is to travel with his band to round off the entertainment for the annual classic bike festival, with the concert being his first appearance on the island in three years.
Davy is currently busy touring around the US, where he has forged a reputation as one of the most gifted, passionate and popular blues guitarists around today.
He left the island shortly after releasing his home-produced debut album with his band, Back Door Slam.
Davy relocated to Chicago, where he now lives, and has toured alongside some of the biggest names in rock, including Jeff Beck, Peter Frampton and Joe Satriani, who described him as his favourite modern blues player.
He has also released four solo albums and EPs.
He has also stepped into the shoes of his guitar hero Rory Gallagher, playing alongside Gallagher’s former bandmates bassist Gerry McAvoy and drummer Ted McKenna to tour as the Band of Friends.
